A group of B.C. physicians are taking a stand as what they see as a waste of valuable health system resources when employer’s request a sick note from an employee who is absent with a cold or flu.

The reasoning is in keeping with Nordal LeBlanc’s advice to clients that an employer must have a valid reason for requesting a sick note and if a sick note is requested, the employer should be paying the cost (note: collective agreement language would take precedence).
